Association for Computing Machinery
The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) is an organization which deals with issues related to computers, Computer Science, and Computer Engineering. This includes applications of computer technology and new developments in the field. In addition, the Duke chapter of the ACM is the official computer science majors union for Duke University.

The origins of the Black Student alliance can be traced to the Afro-American Society (AAS), formally established in 1967. The AAS formed as these students sought ways to deal with the challenges of Black life at a predominantly White institution.
